The OHCA Pioneer Award is designed to recognize Ohioans influential in the development and advancement of long-term care programs, education, professionalism or ideals. The Awards honor the commitment of these individuals to excellence in long-term care services.

ELMA MOSS
Elma Moss co-founded Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville in 1953. Along with many other changes in health care, Rest Haven has grown from a converted two-story dwelling to a 100-bed skilled facility under Elma’s oversight. Today, she serves as CEO of Rest Haven.
A Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and Fellow with the American College of Health Care Administrators, Elma became involved with the Ohio Health Care Association in 1956, serving on the Education Committee and Board of Trustees during the years of preparation for testing and licensing of nursing home administrators. She also served on the Dayton Area Nursing Home Association Board, and on the Nurse Practice Committee of the Ohio Board of Nursing.
Locally, Elma served on the Advisory Board for the Upper Valley School of Practical Nursing and the Edison College Registered Nursing program for ten years. She promotes health care education through the Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of the Cancer Association Board and Education Committee.
Elma said it has always been exciting to be involved in improving the health care and quality of life for our seniors and others through long term care and continuing education.
