2022 Lifetime Achievement Award honoree is Ginger Schuerger-Davison. Ginger began her career in post-acute and long-term care in 1970. She is a registered nurse with gerontological certification in Ohio and Florida and an Ohio-licensed nursing home administrator. In her years of leadership in high-quality facilities, including 29 years with the Robert Coury family organization, she started up many new centers and developed specialized programs. These programs included ventilator, dementia, and rehab units, as well as assisted living and ID/DD facilities. Ginger also has provided consulting services to post-acute and long-term care organizations, such as survey preparation and resolution, quality assurance, new facility start-ups (including Cleveland’s first hospital-based SNF), and temporary management.
Ginger is part of the very fabric of OHCA. She was a member of the OHCA Board of Trustees in the early 2000s as a Northeast Ohio regional representative and more recently served for many years as the District 13 board alternate. She has attended countless board and district meetings, conventions, and conferences. She has served for decades on numerous OHCA committees, including the Council of Nurses, Regulatory Committee, Immediate Jeopardy Task Force, Life Safety/Emergency Preparedness Committee, and assisted living groups, chairing some of these committees. She spent four years on the OHCA staff as Regulatory/Clinical Director. Her strengths lie in mentoring others, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, nursing and general management, and infection control.
